Music Minds Matter announces new Allies
We’re delighted to announce that we have expanded our network of Allies, welcoming eight new organisations committed to building a healthier, more resilient music industry through prevention and collaboration.
The new allies are:
· Association of Independent Festivals (AIF)
· Association of Independent Music (AIM)
· Association of Independent Promoters (AIP)
· Attitude is Everything
· Black Lives in Music (BLiM)
· Music Producers’ Guild (MPG)
· Music Venues Trust (MVT)
· The Ivors Academy
They join existing allies BPI, BIMM, FAC, MU, MMF, and We Are The Unheard, strengthening a shared industry-wide effort to embed prevention, awareness, and wellbeing as core principles across all areas of music.
Last year, we made over 5,000 interventions to support the mental health of people in music. That included supporting over 600 people through preventative self-care sessions, equipping them with practical tools to manage stress and strengthen resilience.
While this represents significant progress, it also highlights the scale of need across the sector. The pressures of working in music - from financial instability and long working hours to ongoing uncertainty - continue to impact mental health for many, underscoring the importance of accessible, early support. That’s is why the support of our Allies is so important.
Charisse Beaumont, CEO of Black Lives In Music, said: “At Black Lives in Music we know first-hand that for Black and Global Majority musicians and industry professionals mental health is tied to the daily realities of their working lives. It is affected by persistent under representation, financial barriers and racism in the sector. Our research shows how strongly these issues impact wellbeing which is why supporting Music Minds Matter is so important. We see it as a vital step towards culturally aware and preventive support rather than crisis only. The music industry cannot address its mental health challenges in isolation. It requires collaboration among artists, labels, freelancers and organisations to build awareness, resilience and safe spaces where individuals feel seen and supported before issues escalate. We are proud to partner with Music Minds Matter to help achieve this.
Emma Townsend, Executive Director at Music Producers’ Guild, said: “There are many challenges and long-standing industry norms that negatively affect workers’ mental and physical health; from long, anti-social hours to low pay and intense competition for roles. It’s easy for people to feel they must sacrifice their wellbeing in order to progress in their careers. At the MPG, we are strong advocates for supporting mental health in the workplace and challenging these historic norms to create a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all. That’s why we are proud to partner with Music Minds Matter, providing the feedback and tools needed to support workers at every level. Identifying issues early and offering support before burnout occurs is a vital step in improving welfare across our industry.”
Laurie Oliva, our Director of Services, said: "We’re thrilled to welcome these incredible organisations as our new Music Minds Matter allies. By joining forces, we can ensure mental health support is available to everyone working in music, before challenges reach a breaking point. Stress Awareness Week is the perfect moment to highlight that prevention, awareness, and early intervention are essential."
