Music Minds Matter and Seye Adelekan Launch “Performance Peace”
New interview series opens up conversations around mental health in music
We’re really excited to has team up with acclaimed musician and Gorillaz bassist Seye Adelekan to launch Performance Peace - a new interview series that brings honest, human stories about mental health in music into the spotlight.
Through candid conversations with artists, producers, managers, and crew from across the music world, Performance Peace explores what it really means to find balance, purpose, and peace in a creative life.
Each episode sees Seye invite guests to reflect on their personal journeys - from the highs of performance to the challenges of burnout, recovery, and resilience. In episode one, available now, he shares his own story.
“Life in the music world can be brutal but also beautiful. Performance Peace is about talking about all of it. How we fight through the tough times and find peace when it’s painful. All the guests have unique things to offer - from artists to managers to tour bus drivers. It’s ok to struggle. Life is a team sport, and you are not alone” said Seye.
Produced by Music Minds Matter, Performance Peace shines a light on the real experiences behind life in music, with each episode accompanied by downloadable resources offering practical tools, guidance, and signposts to support for those navigating their own mental health journey in the music industry.
Laurie Oliva, Director of Services and Research at Music Minds Matter, said: “At Music Minds Matter, we know the power of hearing someone else’s story. Through Performance Peace, we hope to inspire more people to speak openly about mental health and to reach out for support when they need it.”
